TENCEL
THE NEW AGE FIBER
"Naturalness, High Tensile Strength, Color Fastness, Flexibility, Brightness, Comfort”
Tencel, a kind of regenerated cellulose based fiber, represents high tenacity against intensive mechanical processes.
Being natural, Tencel has the ability to breath. It transfers humidity very well, and it does not cause any discomfort in case of perspiration. It keeps its brightness and color even after several times of washing.
In addition to its high absorbing capacity, it is easy to get soft and stretching handle from Tencel products. Fiber distention and fiber modulus should be considered while composing fabric construction from Tencel yarns. High modulus and strength might mean that Tencel fibers will not easily distort in the fabric and will regain their original shapes and positions.
Tencel has three different types called Tencel Standard, Tencel A100 and Tencel LF The fibrillation feature of the Tencel Standard contributes to the fabric appearance and handle. The smooth handle of the fabric, thanks to this fibrillation feature, has known as ‘peach skin effect’ in textile industry.
Tencel A100 and Tencel LF has been developed for customers who want to benefit from the characteristics of Tencel, such as brightness, naturalness, high wet and dry tensile strength, but believe that the peach skin effect is not appropriate for their products. Tensile strength and modulus of Tencel A100 and Tencel LF are 10 percent lower than Tencel Standard. However, these types absorb water more easily than standard type does, due to their open structure.
It is possible to blend and dye Tencel fiber with other fiber types.
However, in Tencel/cotton blend dying, a light/dark effect appears instead of a homogeneous color, as Tencel is dyed darker compared to cotton.
Tencel provides perfect color fastness and brightness, which have great importance particularly in outerwear Comparative color fastness test in black reactive dying;

TENCEL® – The new age fiber
TENCEL® is the functional fiber from nature. It is of botanic origin, since it is extracted from the raw material wood. Fiber production itself is extremely eco-friendly, due to the closed loop system. On the day that TENCEL® was invented, a new chapter was written in the history of fibers. Textiles of TENCEL® are more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen.
Moisture Control
TENCEL® deals with moisture like no other. The fiber absorbs moisture completely and naturally and then releases it to the outside.

A turbo force in moisture absorption
TENCEL® has a unique
fibril structure. Fibrils (extremely small hairs) are the tiniest components which make up the fiber. Submicroscopic channels between the individual fibrils regulate absorption and release of moisture. Thus, these tiny fibrils assure the optimum transportation of moisture.

A comparison gives confidence
Compared to synthetic fibers, the optimum moisture transportation of TENCEL® is unique. The fibril structure of the fiber helps create an optimal skin climate due to the superior moisture absorption. Synthetic fibers do not absorb any moisture as the comparison shows.
However, TENCEL® really stands out when compared with cotton. Compared to cotton, TENCEL® absorbs the moisture in a controlled and regular manner. With TENCEL® a 50 % improvement in moisture management was measured.*

Textile cosmetics
Due to the smooth structure of the TENCEL® fiber, textiles are particularly silky and soft on the skin.
..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Smooth softness
Since the textile has a smooth surface, the softness is appreciable and prevents irritations to the skin. Thus, TENCEL® promotes an optimal skin feeling thanks to the smooth fiber surface. Rough fiber surfaces can cause skin irritations. Compared to the fiber surfaces of cotton and wool, it is clear that TENCEL® is much smoother and softer on the skin.

The skin is the largest human organ. The care and health of the skin are, therefore, particularly important. The skin can only remain healthy and attractive if it is in balance. TENCEL® C, the specialty fiber developed for textile cosmetics, is permanently refined with an oceanic skin care complex (chitosan). Tests prove the effectiveness.*

Pure fiber
Bacteria do not stand a chance with TENCEL®. The perfect moisture management of this cellulosic fiber is responsible for the reduced bacteria growth.
..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Totally natural hygiene
With TENCEL® the formation of bacteria is reduced. Moisture is immediately transported into the inside of the fiber. Thus, no moisture film, which can sustain bacterial growth, forms on the fiber.
..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Completely without chemicals
The growth of bacteria can be restricted completely naturally without chemical additives. A test demonstrates that the growth of bacteria on TENCEL® is greatly reduced. In synthetic fibers, on the other hand, the number of bacteria increases by up to 2000 times.

The gentle way
Produced ecologically, taking care to conserve resources
A life cycle analysis demonstrates the eco-friendliness of TENCEL® in comparison to cotton, polyester and polypropylene.
..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
The study evaluates all the environmental impacts in the course of extracting the fiber and arrives at the conclusion that cotton’s toxic impact on fresh water and soil is enormous in comparison to TENCEL®. Another ecological advantage of TENCEL® is that the raw material wood, stems from forest plantations which practice sustainability. The cultivated forest land is not suitable for agriculture. In contrast, cotton uses productive agricultural land, which means it is competing with food production. Moreover, water consumption is 10 – 20 times lower than with cotton.*

Ecological production
The production of TENCEL® is revolutionary. The production process is based on a solvent spinning process which represents the greatest achievement in cellulose fiber technology. More than 100 Lenzing patents have been granted at the international level for the invention of TENCEL®. The unique closed loop process makes TENCEL® the fiber of the future since the solvent used is recycled by almost 100% in the closed loop process. This special process received the “European Award for the Environment” from theEuropean Union.

Botanic Fiber
From wood to fiber. TENCEL® comes from nature and makes use of photosynthesis which has, since the beginning of time, been an important mechanism in nature and the basis for life on earth. In photosynthesis the energy from the sun is absorbed by various dyestuffs, primarily green chlorophyll, and converted into chemical energy. In this respect, the starting products of carbon dioxide and water are converted into dextrose and oxygen. The more TENCEL® you have, the more oxygen.

POLYESTER BLENDS
Polyester fiber blends different ratios with modal, lyocell , viscose and micromodal fibers and produces different characteristic of yarns. Demands of in this point, responds to research with colors of Karsu goods pool or customers own color demand.
LINEN BLENDS
Flax fiber mixes with modal, lyocell, viscose, cotton, polyester fibres etc. and produces yarns with high quality, characterize effect, cool sense fabrics even in hot climatic conditions.
WOOL BLENDS
KarsuTekstil generally produces Modal/Wool, Acrylic/Wool, Viscose/Wool ,Tencel/ wool blends.
MICRONYLON BLENDS
High characterize yarns produced by micronylon fiber mixes with micromodal fiber. Yarn produced from microfibers have more filaments in cross section than normal yarns therefore, having a bigger surface area compared to the other fibers. At the same time provides much demanded characteristics such as well fitting, comfort, softness and fullness in the best way than other fibers.
Even for closely woven fabrics, the weight per surface area ratio is at a low level, and the fabric does not crease. Blend covers a perfect combination of handle, softness, gentle and well fitting characteristics provided by micromodal and dry and wet tensile strength properties of micronylon, which are stable and harmonic with micromodal.
