Modal is a cellulose based fiber produced by Lenzing AG. KarsuTekstil is the biggest producer of 100% and blended Modal yarns in the world.

Modal, produced from the wood of beech-tree, is a kind of completely natural fiber which has high dry and wet tensile strength values. It is quite resistant to wear and, in addition, it transfers humidity extremely well. Woven or knitted fabrics made of Modal, have a smooth handle. Thanks to its feature to transfer humidity very well, Modal gives wearing comfort even in hot, moist climatic conditions.

Modal fiber’s behavior resembles to the cotton fiber in finishing processes; now that it is not thermoplastic, but regenerated cellulose based. When used in 100 percent, Modal does not require any bleaching and mercerization processes, thanks to the original white color of the fiber

MODAL MELANGE
Modal melange yarns produces by mixes colourful modal fiber in blow room process with demanded melange grade. Different grades of melange can produce with each color. The final goods which made from modal melange yarns has a perfect appearance thanks to all superior pecularities of modal and superior optique performance(reflection)

MODAL BLENDS
Yarn is the most important factor determine of fabric characteristics. Yarn charactics determine by fiber. Modal fiber have superior chracteristics and by mixing method with different superior characteristics of fiber can produce different types of fitting yarn depends on field of use. MODAL/COTTON COMBED
Both two fibers’s based cellulosic and being natural presents %100 naturalness. Modal fiber’s gentle, comfortable handle, lustrous and high wet and dry tensile strength fastness values formed in yarn features with cotton fiber’s known characteristics. Modal and cotton fibers’ color fastness resembles to provide uniform appearance on produced yarn. Modal/cotton blends produce depend on field of use and required features. Cotton fiber can mix in open end too

MODAL / ORGANIC COTTON COMBED
KarsuTekstil produces Modal/Organic Cotton Combed yarn in rate of 5% , 50% and depends on rate of customer requirement except conventional modal/cotton combed yarn

Mother of the forest

Beechwood, the raw material for Lenzing Modal®, is known as a deep-rooting plant. For this reason, beechwood, which is extremely resistant, has been known as the Mother of the Forest since the beginning of time. A typical beechwood forest is home to about 7,000 species of animals and is an important provider of raw materials. With around 250 well known fields of application, beechwood is the most versatile type of wood around.

Natural growth

The way that beech trees grow is something truly special. They multiply by “rejuvenation” which means that the trees propagate by themselves. No artificial irrigation or planting is required. Thus beechwood forests are a completely natural and sustainable source of raw material. More than half of the wood used at Lenzing comes locally from Austria and the remainder is from neighboring countries. Beechwood from forests which apply prevailing forestry legislation and sustainable methods is used exclusively.

CO₂ neutral

Full integration at the Lenzing site in Austria makes it possible to produce the fiber in a CO₂ neutral way due to the generation of excess energy and the recovery of component parts of the wood. Even pulp production at Lenzing is self-sufficient in terms of energy and is an important supplier of energy for the entire operation.

Innovative environmental technology

Lenzing is a pioneer when it comes to wood refineries. The processes needed for this were developed by Lenzing and are not commercially available. Generally the thermal use of wood components is CO₂ neutral. Numerous Lenzing environmental innovations are integrated in the production of Lenzing Modal®. The key part of Edelweiss is the Edelweiss technology which is based on oxygen-based chemistry. Thus Lenzing Modal® is produced in an environmentally responsible way from the pulp through to the fiber.

Up to 95% of the Lenzing Modal® production materials are recovered at Lenzing as a result of innovative environmental processes. This gentle treatment is what makes it possible for the Lenzing Modal® production site to be located in the middle of a tourist area.

POLYESTER BLENDS

Polyester fiber blends different ratios with modal, lyocell , viscose and micromodal fibers and produces different characteristic of yarns. Demands of in this point, responds to research with colors of Karsu goods pool or customers own color demand.

LINEN BLENDS

Flax fiber mixes with modal, lyocell, viscose, cotton, polyester fibres etc. and produces yarns with high quality, characterize effect, cool sense fabrics even in hot climatic conditions.

WOOL BLENDS

KarsuTekstil generally produces Modal/Wool, Acrylic/Wool, Viscose/Wool ,Tencel/ wool blends.

MICRONYLON BLENDS

High characterize yarns produced by micronylon fiber mixes with micromodal fiber. Yarn produced from microfibers have more filaments in cross section than normal yarns therefore, having a bigger surface area compared to the other fibers. At the same time provides much demanded characteristics such as well fitting, comfort, softness and fullness in the best way than other fibers.

Even for closely woven fabrics, the weight per surface area ratio is at a low level, and the fabric does not crease. Blend covers a perfect combination of handle, softness, gentle and well fitting characteristics provided by micromodal and dry and wet tensile strength properties of micronylon, which are stable and harmonic with micromodal.
